A recent poll conducted by international property search engine propertini.com that asked visitors "If you could only use one property portal, which would it be?" and allowed users to vote just once threw up some interesting results which may surprise.
Perhaps the biggest surprise is the low number of votes cast for stalwart property portal FindaProperty.com that received fewer votes than the 'other' category.
So what do these results tell us? To get the full picture, let’s take a look at some relevant statistics:
|Final Poll Results||Alexa Traffic Rank (GB)*||Twitter Followers**|
|Tepilo - 31%||Rightmove – 31||Tepilo – 18,066|
|Zoopla - 30%||Zoopla - 146||Rightmove – 12,840|
|Rightmove - 26%||FindaProperty – 186||Zoopla – 9,491|
|Other - 7%||Tepilo – 17,720||FindaProperty – 7,850|
|FindaProperty - 6%|
Tepilo, no doubt helped by the celebrity appeal of founder Sarah Beeny, has amassed considerably more followers than Rightmove and more than Zoopla and FindaProperty combined. Previous polls have also seen Tepilo perform well - some may say disproportionately well - however it should be noted that Zoopla received a larger percentage of the votes than Rightmove, despite having fewer Twitter followers.
So, will Tepilo’s high engagement with social networking users elevate it to becoming the UK’s favourite property portal, will Rightmove remain on top, will the merger of The Digital Property Group (DPG) and Zoopla create an unstoppable property portal juggernaut to take on Rightmove’s dominance, or will a new portal come along to change the game entirely? In the end, only time will tell.
